Start up and which?

Hello guys. I have been keeping Rtc and Clown knifefish for a while. Now im closing abit down on the big fish and will start to conentrate abit more on reptiles. And yet i wont stop keeping fish for good. I want to create a Puffer tank. It will be around 200-300L. Any sugestions and abit of info on the fish i can keep in these circumstances? Regards Alexander!

we're talking about a 53 to 80 gallon brackish tank. most common puffer would be the green spotted puffer.it grows about 6 inches.they will get nippy with some fish, they might get aggressive with their own type,or other type of puffers.so keeping them in a species tank or with other larger type fish

you have a few choices:

GSPs 1 or 2 (if you are lucky) High end brackish to full marine

F8's (Figure eights) low end brackish and keep a trio

SAP's (South American Puffers), totally FW but require much more personal care than the 2 mentioned above. You can keep a trio in there also.

Similar to GSPs are the Ceylon. They grow a bit larger but I don't think they are as interesting. Keep as a single.

The Giant spotted puffer could be another option kept as a single.

If you go full saltwater it opens you up to the toby family and those are really cool!

brackish is about 1.002-1.005 as for saltwater the salinity is 1.021-1.025.for a marine fish only tank for puffers 1.021 is used.higher salinity of 1.023-1.025 is invertebrates and reef tanks

ummm no.

A giant spotted is Tetradon Sabahensis

and the ceylon is Tetraodon fluviatilis

both very different than previously mentioned.

With FW puffers it really depends on what your local shop can get. The most common are south americans, and dwarf puffers. I don't think you'll regret going light brackish (a little salt) with an F8 (figure eight) puffer. It is very personable and only requires an extra step during the water changes.

You did mention 2 other kinds of puffers: The T.Mbu (a HUGE fish) and the arrowhead. You can do an arrowhead if you can get one, but they are not as lively as the ones mentioned above.

There are some in the target species that are sometimes available but rare. I could provide you with a full list of FW puffers but it is a moot point if your shop can't get them.

Well i im a member of a danish Website for Carnivore fish. and we have a very good Fish Dealer ( Import ). He gets most fish and even special imports aswell. so im able to get hang of most fish. but also we have high taxes in denmark. so our fish are extremly expensive. But i got hang of a guy selling a 1190L aquarium. so i got abit more space to play with.
Will i be able to fit an Grown Mbu in these Circumstances?
