Hello All,

I did a search for Puffer photos and ran across this website and thought it would be a good idea to become a member. I've been into salt water marine since about 1990. I was given a Puffer to cycle and establish my very first tank and was sold on them ever since. I currently have a 110 gallon and 150 gallon. The 110 has approx. 25 lbs of rock and 25 lbs of coral with crushed coral bottom. I'm running wet/dry filtration, chiller and heater system and UV sterilizer. No protein skimmers or water polishers at this time. The Puffer has full reign of the tank since it's the only fish in there at the moment although I may pick up a Yellow Tang to keep it company. The 150 is in the garage awaiting set-up as I wrap up some home renovations. I posted some photos in my album from past and present tanks and will make an attempt to post some here.

That is a porcupine puffer. He's rather gentle and shy until it's feeding time. I've noticed that when he sees me with the plastic cup with defrosted prawn overhead about to be poured into the tank, he comes straight to the top and starts to spit water up and out of the tank towards the cup (hence, why they are sometimes called blow-fish) in an effort to knock the cup into the water. I've been using the same red plastic cup for years for feedings so anything red, especially something that resembles a cup, he will race back and forth at a high rate of speed causing wakes and sometimes causing water to spill out or splash out.
