GSPs and Ceylons are often mistaken. If it has that green halo on its head it is a GSP. Ceylons don't have that.

I figured I could count on your reply I'm so bad at math, and this is complicated, so I've put my husband on the increase. We're doing it over 10 weeks, raising it my 1/2 oz. each week. Even with a salinity refractometer, this isn't easy. Can barely read it, it's so small. Just testing it now, I'm getting a 0 reading. It's a 27 gallon tank, and started with a 1/4 cup of Instant Ocean, and at the water change (taking out 10 gallons) and adding 1/2 oz. (basically 3 Tablespoons). So, since it's still at 0, something is not right. I did calibrate it as per directions.
So, this is not going to be easy, and I guess it's not 10% per week.
Oh, and he has a bright green head, so that is good to know he's a GSP.
Edit: Had my 13 year old daughter look through and she's seeing .05, so there is some small salinity.
