I'm no expert but I'm sure when one comes along it is going to be really helpful to have all your tank parameters. Might want to go ahead and post those up.

Again no expert but I would highly recommend you get your own test kit so you know for a fact all the tests come out to your liking and not what someone says should be fine. And he might be right too maybe hes just adjusting to the tank, but if you suspect anythings wrong, always test your water! Will wait to see if someone more knowledgeable comes along because beyond those words I don't have a clue.

It is true, posting as much as possible will get you a better opinion of what the issue may be. It would be helpful to post the tank size/type, type of filtration, heater/chiller, current water temp, the specific gravity, lighting, location of tank, what else is in the tank (other fish or quantity of rock/coral/sand). Any of this may affect the behavior of the fish. Definitely get into the habit of performing some of your own water testing at home, it's more consistent. Based on your posting and assuming all else is OK and the water is within normal range, the puffer may be exhibiting cautious behavior due to its new surroundings and may need time to fully acclimate. Is the puffer's back arched, and is the tail curled in either when resting or swimming? What behavior did you observe when the fish was at the LPS before bringing it home?
