OH no....Ich!

I think Pippin has come down with a mild case of ich, if I'm not mistaken.
He has a fuzzy looking white spot on his dorsal fin, although it has not spread to anywhere else that I can see. However, he has been flashing/scratching one side of his face on rocks and such. I don't see any spots there, though.
I'm not really sure what to do about this...any suggestions?

Nah, he's been doing it off and on for a little while now. I just haven't said anything because it hasn't gotten worse and it comes and goes....but I feel like something should be done about it anyway.
Hopefully someone here can help me with it...

Do a large water change with a good gravel / substrate vac then up the temp to the low to mid 80s and add 1 table spoon of salt per 5 gallons for 10 days.

Will do! When you say salt, do you mean marine salt or aquarium salt? I ask because his salinity is already pretty high. Also, his temp is between 80 and 82 currently...does it need to be higher?

Do a search on this forum and you should find lots of info regarding treatment. Lots of specifics on the salt, temp, etc. Also look under the diseases section.

usually aquarium salt, but what is the SG? FW Ich and SW ICH are 2 totally different things.

True, but a freshwater drip will kill saltwater ich.

If it's fuzzy, I would think it's fungus. We need a pic for proper diagnosis.

The sg is running at about 0.16 right now. It stays in the range of 0.15-0.17....my puffer seems happiest in that range.

Im not totally sure if it's fuzzy, he moves so much it's hard to tell. I will try to get a picture of it...no promises though. He doesn't stay still long so getting a picture of one little part of him will be tricky!
