Puffer food

I recently bought two figure 8 puffers
when asking what to feed them, the sales woman told me that flake food
would work well enough. This confused me, because when i was younger i had some and had to heat up some type of feed for them. I havent seen them noticeably eating the flakes, so i worry. Can puffers eat flakes, or should i make an emergency visit to my petstore for some other kind

ummm....just remember all puffers need HARD shelled food such as snails for smaller puffers(eye size) and crayfish, shrimp(big ones) and etc... for larger puffers you can also feed crickets

Yeah, no chance getting them to eat flake food- what an idiot salesperson.

They'll eat frozen & live bloodworms, blackworms, mosquito larvae and anything else tasty along that size. I also feed my puffer bits of frozen (and then thawed) raw shrimp.

What size tank are they in? What is the SG? I hope you're using marine mix and not aquarium salt...
